Auto Mechanic
1 Permanent Position
Afternoon Shift
CUPE Local 4400, Unit D – 12 Months - 40 hours per week
Hourly Rate of Pay: $39.04

The Toronto District School Board invites applications, in resume format, for the position of Auto Mechanic. To be located in the East Fleet at 85 Shorting Road (1 Afternoon shift).
Summary of Duties:
• Perform major maintenance and repair of a variety of light and heavy duty vehicles.
• Conduct MTO safety inspections of the Boards’ vehicle fleet.
• Inspect, repair/replace or overhaul of vehicle components as required.
• Diagnose & Repair electronic systems of the Board’s vehicles and landscaping equipment.
• Provide on road maintenance when needed.
• Other job related duties as assigned.
• Complete work orders legibly and accurately
• Maintain a Clean and Safe environment
• Comply with Health & Safety regulations in the workplace and TDSB Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications:
• Applicants will possess provincial certificates of qualifications as a 310T Truck & Coach Technician with demonstratable relevant experience. 310S Automotive Service Technician certificate an asset.
• Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing with a copy of a current abstract. Z endorsement an asset.
• Ability to maintain a co-operative working relationship with other members of Board staff at all levels and the general public.
• A good work record including a record of reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Applicants must have been active in the Auto Technicians Trade for the last five years.
• Candidates must have all hand tools required and be well acquainted with the general maintenance and repair of large school buses, large and small trucks and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Experience with diesel engines, air and hydraulic brake systems, and electronic systems required.
• Heavy Equipment repair and servicing experience an asset.
• Computer skills ability to utilize online line repair diagnostic portals (Mitchell On Demand) required.
Location: Fleet East Garage – 85 Shorting Road
Shift: Afternoon Shift (Shifts are subject to change per operational requirements and during school non-operating periods).
Hours: 8 hours per day
Work Year: 12 months
