Automation Specialist

Calworx Projects Ltd. Has an exciting opportunity for an Automation Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Automation Manager, the successful candidate will be accountable for working within our projects team on Controls and Automation projects; ultimately providing exceptional client experiences.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This position is a full-time position based in Calgary at the Calworx head office, and will require periodic travel as you work with our customers at their locations. As an Automation Professional, you will provide support to the multi-disciplinary engineering team as an automation and controls subject matter expert. You will be assigned to multiple projects and will support at all stages of the project lifecycle; including preliminary design, engineering, programming, testing and commissioning scopes.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

· Support our Electrical Engineers / Designers with Control System development and wiring schematics.

· PLC, DCS and HMI Programming

· Controls Documentation including Control Narratives, Cause and Effect drawings, SCADA and IO Lists, Testing documentation, Technical Report writing.

· Engineering / selection of controls equipment, including interfacing with customer and vendors.

· Panel Tests, Software Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.

· Remote Control Systems Support and Troubleshooting industrial systems.

· Field trips to various locations in Western Canada either solo or as a part of a team.

Position Requirements:

· Post Secondary degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or an equivalent qualification.

· A minimum of 6 years of industry experience in Western Canadian industries.

· Specialization and Certification in one or more of the following technologies:

o PLC Systems: Rockwell Automation or Schneider Electric

o DCS Systems: Delta V or Rockwell PlantPAX

o SCADA / HMI Systems: Inductive Ignition

· Ability to travel from time to time to client locations in Canada with a minimum of 1-week notice for up to 2 weeks at a time. Most projects will have a office to travel ration of 70% Office / 30% field.

Credentials that will set you apart:

· Certification in any technology product or process outside of a secondary education school diploma, degree. For example: Cybersecurity, Networking, vendor platforms, Functional Safety, SIS, etc.

· Hands-on field experience with commissioning, testing or maintaining power system equipment, control system equipment, or automation software platforms.

· Experience obtained from working with other engineering companies or systems integrators.

· Knowledge of electrical systems, industrial processes, commercial and utility environments.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Being motivated and passionate about working with people and overcoming challenges through collaborative efforts.
