Job Summary

Context: As a key group within the BC Public Service Agency ("PSA"), the Classification & Exclusion Services team upholds collective agreements, legislation and pay equity principles by providing expert and comprehensive advice using job evaluation plans, policies, and frameworks. The team makes fair, consistent and professional decisions to maintain internal equity for work performed in the BC Public Service on behalf of the citizens of British Columbia.
The Role: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Classification & Exclusion Services, the position is responsible for providing advice and guidance to clients and staff on classification related issues to ensure that HR legislation, policies, procedures, and best practices are consistently applied across the BC Public Service. The position also conducts classification reviews under the guidance of a Classification Specialist.
Job Requirements:
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business/Commerce Administration, Public Administration, or Social Sciences/Humanities and a minimum of 1 year of related experience as described below; OR
  • Diploma in Human Resources, Business/Commerce Administration, Public Administration, or Social Sciences/Humanities and a minimum of 2 years related experience as described below; OR
  • Grade 12 plus course work in a Human Resources related field and 4 years related experience as described below.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Related experience includes:
  • Experience conducting research and analysis, and/or interpreting and applying policies and/or legislation.
  • Experience providing customer service including building and cultivating relationships, managing conflict and customer expectations in accordance with service standards.

Preferences:
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have experience working with job evaluation plan(s) in a public sector environment.
