Job Summary

The Office of the Provincial Director and Aboriginal Services Division provides a broad array of oversight and leadership functions for services being provided by the Ministry. Together with our partners, our goal is to deliver inclusive, culturally respectful, responsive, and accessible services that support the safety and well-being of children, youth, and families. The Office includes individuals designated by the Minister under the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA) and Adoption Act; and provides practice support, oversight and leadership for services delivered under these Acts to Indigenous Child and Family Service Agencies and Ministry staff. The CFCSA is provincial child protection legislation that authorizes social workers delegated by a Designated Director to provide support services, child protection services and guardianship services to vulnerable children, youth and families.
This position reports directly to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) and is a member of the Divisional Executive. It supports the ADM and Executive Directors in Planning and alignment of division business to overall ministry strategic direction, aligning available resources to priorities, and cross-divisional planning, reporting and accountability tracking. This position also leads the development of an integrated Divisional strategic plan, inclusive of a comprehensive staff engagement and communication strategy.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, OR a combination of education, training and four (4) years relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience in each of the following areas:
    • Prioritizing and managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities and evolving issues, under significant time constraints.
    • Management and supervision of staff and teams.
    • Working directly with an Assistant Deputy Minister or equivalent.
    • Staff engagement, managing resources and budget forecasting.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
  • Four (4) or more years experience in the social services sector.
  • Four (4) or more years experience in managing sensitive human resources issues including performance management and dismissal.
  • Two (2) or more years experience working in an Assistant Deputy Minister's Office or equivalent executive level office.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position is excluded from union membership.
