Barista/Sales Assistant

Overview:

We are seeking full-time and part-time Baristas to join our team at Toronto’s only anime and manga-themed café!

As a Barista, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and crafting delicious beverages in a fast-paced environment.

As the first members of the team, you have the opportunity of contributing to a successful business launch. All team members will be receiving training in the handling of equipment, preparation of menu items, and POS operations prior to the soft opening of the café.

Responsibilities:

- Take customer orders and provide recommendations based on their preferences.

- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and bubble tea.

- Assist with food preparation (pastries and sandwiches).

- Assist with stocking, organizing, and sale of retail products (manga and other as needed).

- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process transactions accurately.

- Provide assistance to customers with menu selection or special requests.

- Handle cash and process payments accurately.

- Follow proper food safety and sanitation guidelines in the preparation and handling of food and beverages

- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning and restocking supplies as needed

- Attending and participating in all company trainings prior to soft opening and as needed.

Qualifications:

- Food Handler Certification

- Previous Barista experience in a café or coffee shop strongly preferred

- Previous bubble tea shop experience is a plus

- Previous retail experience is a plus (handling of books and other merchandise)

- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

- Ability to handle cash transactions and operate a cash register

- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor

- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating changes

- Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices

Salary: $16.55 per hour
