SalaryThere is a permanent full-time (0.75 FTE) Basic Custodian position available at Maitland River Elementary School in Wingham, Ontario, effective March 1, 2024.
The Basic Custodian duties may include:
Building Maintenance
- change lights
- shovel snow
- operate snow blower
- clean and inspect the roof
- operate grass-cutting equipment
- perform minor repairs
- conduct health and safety checks
- service rooftop unit
Building Cleaning
- operate and maintain all equipment
- perform all minor and major cleaning
The ideal candidate should possess:
- grade 12 diploma or GED (required);
- the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
- mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
- exemplary interpersonal, professional, and organizational skills;
- the ability to use a computer eg. GAFE;
- experience in handling machinery ie. buffing machines, lawn mowers, and snowblowers;
- knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,
Hours of Work: 30 hours per week, 12 months per year (afternoon shift work is involved)
Rate of Pay: $23.20 -$23.66 per hour in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, UNIFOR Collective Agreement.
Health and Dental Benefits: Extended and Supplementary Health, Paramedical Services, Dental, including Orthodontics, Out of Province/Country and Health Care Spending Account
Pension Plan: Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)
Employment Start Date: March 1, 2024
