Become a PSW

PSWs must be accredited through a provincially recognized training program. Full-time accelerated and standard programs can be completed in anywhere from six months to one year and part-time programs in up to two years. That means there are many ways to learn and train at a pace that works for you.
Step One - Subscribe to Work for Life: Subscribe to our email lists to learn more about the opportunities available in home and community care!
Step Two - Attend a Work for Life Virtual Event: We host regular “Ask Me Anything” Facebook Live events where a PSW answers some of your most asked questions. Be sure to follow us on Facebook to get notified the next time a Facebook Live event is happening.
Step Three: Complete Your Training: Register for an accredited training program to Become a PSW. You may choose to do so through a home or community support provider, community college, private career college, or regional school board.
Step Four: Apply!: Once you have completed your accredited training, you may then work as a PSW in Ontario. You can reach out to any home or community support provider through our virtual job fairs or look for opportunities in your area by visiting one of the job sites below.
Work for Life also hosts virtual career fairs with home and community support providers across Ontario. At these events, companies looking to hire PSWs will present to you what opportunities are available. This may include in-house training, partnerships with local colleges, financial incentives, or other important benefits.
