We are seeking 1 dedicated Behavior Interventionist (BI) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work closely with a child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to implement behaviour intervention plans, provide tailored academic support and foster a positive learning environment.
We are specifically looking for a candidate who is available Monday to Friday for 2-hour sessions between 4:00 pm – 7:30 pm and is able to commit for a minimum of one year.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct at least two 2-hour sessions per week.
- Work on program goals as outlined by the BCBA.
- Support academic development across various subjects, adapting teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles.
- Create academic material for student’s learning goals.
- Attend mandatory monthly team meetings.
- Take accurate data and complete graphing every session.
- Communicate progress to the BCBA regularly.
Qualifications:
- Be able to provide a criminal record check.
- Experience with the Canadian curriculum.
- Fluent English speaker
- Strong academic background with expertise in one or more subjects (e.g., math, English, science).
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with neurodivergent youth, such as those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, or learning disabilities is an asset but not required.
- The AFU (funding source) requires candidates to be at least 19 years old.
Working Conditions:
- Competitive pay with an hourly rate commensurate with experience.
- Option for additional hours after completion of training.
- Payment provided through online AFU Portal and is contract based.
