BELTING SPLICE APPRENTICE

We have an immediate requirement for a Belting Splice Apprentice to work in our Belting Division. This general labor position will act as a helper for the Belting Splice Technicians. It is an apprentice position and may lead to permanent employment and training to be a Belting Splice Technician.
Job Description
· Assisting an experienced Splice Technician with cutting and splicing conveyor belts
· Learning to repair and splice conveyor belts safely and effectively
· Frequent heavy lifting and carrying large equipment
· Working in industrial settings - shops, mines, quarries
· Working outdoors frequently and in all weathers
· Long and irregular hours - overnight and extended travel periodically
· Participating in safety training, and abiding by the safety standards of each worksite
· Full time work with On-Call hours (meaning an average of 40 hours per week guaranteed over each three-month period)
Qualifications
· High School Graduation or GED
· Class 5 License and clean driver’s abstract
· Previous experience working around conveyor systems or construction sites
· Drug testing & Background check due to work in secure locations
· Good physical health and ability to lift heavy equipment
