Pestalto Environmental Health Services Inc. is accepting applications from motivated individuals who are able to work as part of a team and individually.

This is an opportunity to work in a remote part of Canada that most people do not ever get the chance to see or experience. This is a unique opportunity that will look great on any resume.

Candidates must be willing to live in a Churchill Falls, Labrador from May 11th to September 10th, 2024 (dates may vary). Lodging and meals are provided in terms of employment as well as fair compensation and a performance bonus. Successful candidates will have very little expenses relating to this position.

Successful candidates will be required to obtain a Mosquito Biting Fly Exterminator Licence from Ridgetown College (Ontario) or The Pesticide Branch (Newfoundland), Pestalto will arrange and pay for the exam.

Employees will face physically and mentally demanding outdoor work conditions and therefore candidates must be highly motivated, energetic, committed, and in good physical shape. Candidates must be able to carry/lift weights of 50 pounds during ground applications in rough terrain and when loading aircraft. Also they must be able to work outdoors under spring and summer conditions.

Past experience working outdoors would be considered an asset.

Candidates must be flexible and willing & able to address all of the program activities previously described as well as participate in varying daily shifts as required.

Candidates must have a valid G driver's license, be an experienced driver and provide documentation showing a good driving record.

Safe and legal operation of company vehicles is required. Candidates must provide documentation that they have a clean driving record and that they have no criminal record.

Candidates must be detail-oriented for the purposed of identifying and counting Biting Fly larvae, filling out data forms and fulfilling other requirements; must be able to print legibly; and must have good listening and other communication skills.

Employees must be ready and prepared to work at the allotted time each day.

Familiarity with GPS technology, working from hard-copy maps, digital maps, and have experience driving pickup trucks (with and without trailers) and SUV's would all be considered assets.

Successful applicants would also need to be able to obtain a standard level First Aid certificate and complete a WHMIS course in addition to obtaining their Mosquito Biting Fly Exterminator Licence.

This position involves working outdoors and at times walking on uneven terrain.
