Commercial Sand Blasting & Painting is looking for seasonal Blasters, Painters and Laborers to assist during our busier seasons. We currently have available work in our shops and on multiple sites around Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. Applicant must be able to pass a Pre-Employment/Pre-Access drug and alcohol test. Safety tickets are an asset but not required - training will be provided for the right candidate(s).
Sandblaster Responsibilities
- Remove dirt, paint, grease, and other built-up material from surfaces
- Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment
- Load and unload the blast cabinet
- Assist with painting or coating as needed
- Apply and remove non-skid materials as needed
Industrial Painter Responsibilities:
- Cleaning surfaces prior to layering paint.
- Maintaining technical equipment for the job and ensuring that they are in working order.
- Possessing a wide array of painting tools, including thin and thick brushes, airbrushes, and rollers.
- Safely disposing of chemical waste.
- Ensuring that high safety standards are met.
- Utilizing different painting techniques based on the nature of the surface.
- Utilizing special safety equipment.
- Using viscosity cups and thickness gauges to measure the amount of paint to be used and the texture of the paint.
- Ensuring proper ventilation after the paint is applied.
General Laborer Responsibilities
- Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material
- Assist painters and blasters
- Handle and transport materials
- Use power tools and machinery (e.g. forklifts) when needed
- Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks
- Put up warning signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby
- Help with setting up/ preparing work for the day
- Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
Experience:
- Painting: 1 year (preferred)
- Sandblasting: 1 year (preferred)
- Labourer: 1 year (preferred)
Willingness to travel:
- 50% (preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $20.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
