Body Shop Technician/Painter

Available Position: Body Shop Technician/Painter. Licensed and Apprentice Truck and Transport technicians are invited to apply.

MacKay’s Truck & Trailer Center is growing, and we are currently seeking a Body Shop Technician/Painter to join our team in Truro, Nova Scotia. MacKay’s is a well-established family-owned business with over 40 years experience operating full-line Truck, Trailer & Compact Equipment dealerships, with locations in Truro & Dartmouth, Nova Scotia as well as Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

We currently have an opening on our day shift for a permanent full-time Body Shop Technician/Painter to work Monday-Friday. This is not a flat rate shop, technicians and apprentices are paid hourly. We offer a fast paced, professional safe environment. MacKay’s provides employees with the most up to date manufacturers’ training and holds safety to highest standards.

MacKay's offers a competitive salary of $56-$68K (depending on experience), a comprehensive compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, and extended health benefits, company pension (matched), three weeks vacation to start, boot and tool allowance.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Perform structural repairs, prepping & painting, follow safety protocols and guidelines, maintain a clean and organized work area, and communicate with customers regarding repairs and updates. The Body Shop Technician/Painter must be able to multi-task, work under moderate pressure and be able to work well both independently and with the team to ensure a safe & efficient work environment.

Experience:

• Enrolled in the Red Seal Apprenticeship Program or equivalent practical experience or Red Seal Licensed in Auto Body Repair Trade
• Previous experience in automotive repair or dealership setting preferred
• Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed
