Effective January 1st, 2024 the salary range for this position is $1,658.54 to $2, 067.58 per week in compliance with OPSEU Unified Bargaining Unit collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to January 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• Develop seasonal strategic communications plans to promote Ontario tourism
• Build collaborative relationships with tourism partners and media outlets
• Provide media and partner support throughout production stages
• Ensure plans are research-backed and aligned with Destination Ontario's campaigns
• Monitor effectiveness and recommend improvements
• Provide leadership and mentoring to partners and industry associations
• Manage broadcast program budget and associated paperwork
• Develop plans for individual broadcasts and lead planning meetings
• Research, write, and create content for various mediums
• Coordinate and execute in-show segments, interviews, and full shows on location

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

You have a valid class G drivers license

Knowledge of Broadcast Journalism and Production:

You can demonstrate:
• expertise in on-location/remote production, recording, and editing of video and audio content.
• understanding of live and pre-taped television and radio production.
• familiarity with media production roles and responsibilities.
• knowledge of broadcast systems, processes, and quality requirements for television and radio outlets.
• proficiency in using broadcast production equipment and software.

Knowledge of Broadcast Communications and Marketing:

You can demonstrate:
• an understanding of broadcast communications (radio and television), social media, marketing, and advertising
• Knowledge of Ontario tourism partners and products
• Familiarity with various industry-specific software for editing images and video for television and radio

Communication and Relationship Management Skills:

You have the ability to:
• write and edit various types of communication materials
• pitch, plan, negotiate, execute, and monitor broadcast promotions
• establish and maintain positive working relationships with various working partners, including domestic and international Broadcast Media, industry partners, executives, etc.
• organize and execute multiple broadcast promotions through scheduling, partner agreements, budgeting, itinerary development, measurement, etc.
• identify, monitor, and capitalize on media/partner needs and trends

Budget Management and Financial Forecasting Skills:

You can demonstrate:
• knowledge of budget management and financial forecasting guidelines, processes, and best practices
• an ability to use financial information to inform broadcast promotions and planning
