The business is set to launch with one outlet in Oshawa and has expansion plans to open other outlets in key locations all across Ontario and throughout Canada.

Job Title:BUDTENDER & KEY HOLDER

Job Summary:

THAT HAPPY COMPANY (THC) is looking for an experienced Budtender & Key Holder that is capable of cultivating and operating an efficient business and provides an outstanding guest experience. The Budtender & Key Holder achieves this by working collaboratively with the THAT HAPPY COMPANY management and executives to support, maintain, and improve the day-to-day retail operations that include, but are not limited to, the following key duties and responsibilities:

Budtender Support:

  • Committed to growing the THC brand by exceeding expectations on a regular basis and ensuring store operations and customer experience are pristine
  • Strong record of attendance and lack of tardiness
  • Excellent ability to handle high-pressure situations and handle difficult conversations while remaining calm and communicating in a respectful and professional manner
  • Continuously seeks ways to improve the business even beyond their stated role
  • Lead and supervise daily operations during assigned shifts.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Responsible for opening and closing the dispensary
  • Ensuring security protocols are followed

Sales & Customer Service:

  • Achieve sales goals through confident floor skills and excellent customer service skills
  • Ensure POS transactions and end of day cash reconciliation is accurate and follow-up on any discrepancies, and ensure cash deposits are done accurately and on schedule
  • Train, coach, motivate and mentor the Budtender staff on product knowledge and retail sales techniques
  • Stay informed about new product releases, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • Educate and train staff on product knowledge and customer service standards.
  • Support achievement of key sales targets and other business objectives
  • Provide exceptional guest service; act as a role model to the team of Budtenders
  • Ensure a high quality guest experience is provided in every interaction
  • Support with administrative tasks as required; ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Assist in building a weekly staff schedule that complies with labor policies
  • Support resolution of all issues that arise from staff or guests, such as complaints or grievances
  • Coordinate with team to perform weekly inventory audits and reconciliation
  • Ensure all expired/damaged/returned product is logged and disposed of according to regulations
  • Provide daily correspondence via email and manager’s log, with the team members as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Other duties as may be assigned
  • Own all customer feedback and resolve issues in cooperation with upper management if necessary
  • Utilize customer and team member feedback to readily implement changes to improve the customer experience
  • Execute Cannabis selling strategies through collaboration with marketing incentives, displays and promotion
  • View sales reports and communicate with the team to identify sales trends and potential inventory requirements
  • Utilize approved employee incentives to drive sales and boost morale
  • Focus on customer feedback and reviews (Google) and meet monthly goals
  • Provide management team and executive team with insights with respect to popular products and product quality
  • Contribute and manage ongoing corporate social media accounts

Daily Store Operations:

  • Maintain store compliance with all local and federal regulations.
  • Organize and communicate all required reporting and paperwork.
  • Manage inventory, sales, and compliance audits.
  • Perform all daily opening and closing procedures.
  • Implement and oversee security, reporting, and cash management procedures related to opening and closing the store.
  • Be responsible for facility maintenance and troubleshooting as necessary including proper up-keep of the phone, utilities, technology, maintenance, repairs, and supplies.
  • Ensure store inventory levels are sufficient based on sales history and customer trends.
  • Notify management about all expiring products or old products.
  • Coordinate with management and senior leadership to perform daily/monthly/yearly inventory audits and reconciliations.
  • Ensure all expired/damaged/returned products are logged and assist manager on duty with the destruction and disposal according to regulations.
  • Receive cannabis and accessory inventory orders and ensure that all wholesale deliveries are compliant and accurate compared to invoices, etc.
  • Provide daily correspondence via email and manager’s log, with the team members as needed.
  • Comply with all HR policies, including confidentiality and non-disclosures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Spreadsheets, Google Drive, Android software and experience with process management, team problem solving, and inventory control.
  • AGCO approved CannSell Certification is required.
  • Successfully completing and maintaining a clean Criminal Background Check is required.
  • Sound knowledge of Cannabis plants and different strains of Cannabis as well as the product offerings provided by the OCS.
  • Knowledge of standards of Cannabis Retail stores set by AGCO.
  • Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to retail Cannabis.
  • Strong knowledge of COVA POS software.
  • Strong knowledge of Office 365 suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Achievement-oriented and hardworking.

  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.

  • Ability and flexibility to work a variable mixture of day shifts, night shifts, shifts on weekdays (Monday to Friday), shifts on weekends, and shifts on holidays.
