We are looking for Food Porters to work in our popular Stages Restaurant! Food Porters oversee the Buffets and ensure that the buffet inserts are replenished.

Basic Purpose:

To provide excellent service to customers by providing efficient set up, replenishment and tear down of Restaurant or Theatre buffet

Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose):

  • Provides value added service to customers by doing whatever reasonable and possible to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Communicates effectively with customer, co-workers and supervisors
  • Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed
  • Handles difficult situations effectively
  • Meets superior service standards
  • Performs other duties as required to provide superior service and teamwork
  • Food Porters will have a keen awareness of the business peaks and valleys during the shift, staying well stocked and communicates as necessary to their fellow team members and supervisor
  • Takes pride in the buffet line, i.e. presentation and cleanliness
  • Maintains the buffet area free of spills an debris
  • Adheres to hotel policies and procedures
  • Attends work on time as scheduled
  • Follows hotel grooming and dress standards
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate
  • At all times projects a favorable image of SilverBirch Hotels to the public

Working Conditions:

  • Walking, Standing, Lifting and Carrying chafing dishes
  • Mainly mornings/ weekend work

Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements):

  • Energetic and flexible, able to work under pressure
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous customer service experience an asset
  • Self-motivated, creative, capable of working in a team environment
