The County of Lambton is an urban-rural area in southwestern Ontario that is home to over 126,000 residents. Position Overview
Provide day to day custodial services including building, property and grounds maintenance and equipment repairs at rental properties owned and/or leased by the County of Lambton Housing Services Department and provide front line customer service to rental clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean all common areas including hallways, laundry rooms, garbage rooms, stairwells, washrooms, lounges, elevators and windows
- Clean carpets
- Strip, seal and wax floors
- Remove garbage
Grounds Maintenance:
- Maintain lawns and gardens
- Clear snow and salt designated areas in the winter months
- Dispose of garbage including large items such as furniture and appliances
- Paint parking lot lines
- Tag non-roadworthy vehicles for removal
- Maintain mowers, leaf blowers, grass trimmers and snow blowers
Apartment Maintenance:
- Show vacant units to prospective tenants
- Assist Sheriff with lockouts when necessary
- Inspect units upon vacancy and determine tenant charges if damages
- Complete repairs from damages or neglect
- Clean appliances, cupboards, bathrooms, windows and floors
- Dispose of property and garbage left by former tenants
Repairs:
- Complete minor plumbing, electrical and appliance repairs in rental units, common areas and the general building and its operating systems
- Maintain air units, heating systems and building safety systems
On-Call Duties:
Required to provide on-call coverage to respond to after hour Housing building matters, in accordance with applicable department polices and procedures.
Other Duties:
- Maintain general building security and ensure doors are properly secured
- Ensure fire log book and elevator log book are properly maintained
- Order supplies and materials and keep inventory and WHMIS book of supplies
- Report complaints and incidents to Property Manager
- Assist other staff as requested
General:
- Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
- Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis

Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12
Experience
- 2 years' experience performing maintenance and janitorial duties
A valid Ontario driver’s license and use of a vehicle.
