Job Description:

Job Summary

The Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Department is responsible for designing, constructing and maintaining package handling equipment and UPS facilities across Canada. BaSE is currently looking for an Engineering Intern to join them in their Vancouver area operations.

This full-time and temporary position is responsible for providing support to numerous groups within the BaSE function. The intern assists in conducting data gathering and analysis to support the work flow and planning activities of the BaSE Supervisors. This position compiles data, develops reports, conducts periodic audits, and produces project summaries.

As part of the engineering function at UPS, the BaSE intern may be involved in:

  • Creating and modifying AutoCAD drawings

  • Operational improvements studies and reports;

  • Routine technical surveys, inspections and audits;

  • Assisting in daily maintenance and compliance activities.

  • Ensuring system safety;

  • Preparing designs and plans in accordance with established codes, standards and specifications;

  • Cost estimating and budgeting;

  • Project management;

  • Environmental compliance, and

  • Preparing reports.

The BaSE Intern will also be tasked to visit other UPS facilities in the Lower Mainland as part of the assigned duties. A secure form of transportation would be beneficial. This is a paid position and there may be a requirement of occasional overtime depending on the assigned projects.


Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

  • Excellent written and oral communications, and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook) Revit and AutoCAD

  • Understanding of operational barriers and failures, and identifies/improves designs, methods, processes, and flows through collaboration

  • Technical minded with ability to resolve issues related to information systems reporting, report generation and storage, customized reports, and data integration, and writes complex queries and creates databases as needed

Salary range: $45,000 - $55,000 Annually
