Reporting to the Lead, Business Improvement and Intelligence, the Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for developing and implementing data structure and visualization solutions for the Red Dog Mine operations.
Schedule is an even rotation; 2 weeks on-site, 2-week off-site
Responsibilities:
• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Be a contributing member to a business improvement team passionate about delivering value to the business
• Develop and implement opportunities by working with and listening to the operation’s departments, and develop technical specifications based on business requirements
• Access, structure, and transform data to support value creation
• Perform data validation to ensure data correctness
• Create new, and enhance, improve, and optimize existing Power BI reports
• Utilize experience in database concepts, data modeling, data integration including design and architecture
• Design and be able to produce beautifully crafted reports attending to small design details (e.g. alignment, font selection, color selection, readability, data design principles)
• Design and develop reports using best standards for data management and visualization
• Willingness to continually learn, both from others and from internet resources to keep your skillset sharp in a rapidly evolving technical area
• Knowledge of data normalization and database design.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or other natural science or 10 years professional software development experience covering the qualifications outlined in this job description in lieu of degree
• Minimum one-year experience with computer programming in a business environment
• Python skills preferred or ability to learn Python required
• SQL skills; ability to construct SQL queries to collect and shape data from relational databases, including performance troubleshooting is required
• Experience in T-SQL, PL/SQL or similar is required
• Experience in SQL Server Analytical Services is an asset
• Ability to develop and maintain Extract, Transform, and Loading (ETL) processes
• Minimum one-year experience in building Business Intelligence solutions with a focus on reporting such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar
• Ability to comprehend business drivers and challenges faced by clients, and able to quickly learn how to extract value from these drivers
• Effective verbal communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts to clients
• Personable and interacts in a cordial manner. Effective results-focused team and cross-team player
• Mining Industry experience an asset
