We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join our team in our Montreal office!

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will become a key part of a growing Business Intelligence team. Present across Canada you will work with a dedicated team whose goal is to leverage data and give the business the necessary tools and autonomy enabling them to make sound data-driven decisions resulting in a significant edge over the competition. Structures are in place for you to develop your skills.

Your day as a Business Intelligence Engineer

  • Build & maintain Power BI reports & dashboards
  • Understand & Develop RLS modules while maintaining the existing ones
  • Build Business cubes to curate datasets
  • Undertake ad hoc data analysis to support various business initiatives
  • Understand structure of enterprise data to translate into reporting design
  • Work with Physical and Logical Data Marts in Azure Synapse and SQL Server
  • Maintain Data dictionary, and other documentation
  • Follow best practices for Power BI report design & BI deliverables in general
  • Work and collaborate with Data Engineering resources
  • Collaborate with various Business Application Teams to understand the Source Data
  • Identify potential gaps in reporting & BI needs across business domains by undertaking various initiatives
  • Work in Agile framework/methodology

Our ideal candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in related fields (preference for Computer Science and Information Technology related field) with some BI projects undertaken at university level.
  • Experience working in organizational BI an asset.
  • Familiarity working with or projects undertaken using various reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Knowledge of Data Lakes, Data warehousing, Data Mart concepts an asset.
  • Knowledge of Data Modelling, Data Transformation & database normalization concepts.
  • Understand SQL. Be willing to learn advanced SQL. Familiarity with SQL Server and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) an asset.
  • Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake, SQL Data Warehouse an asset.
  • Familiarity working with programming languages like Python, R, Java, etc. an asset.
  • Willingness to be on top of new technological advances and features in BI (Power BI specifically).
  • Passion for data & driving actionable insights from it.

You are also:

  • Bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
  • Very analytical and good at problem-solving.
  • Effective with time management and organizational skills.
