Purchasing Department
Buyer / Senior Buyer
(Permanent Position)
 
Why We Need You:
We are seeking a qualified and engaged Buyer / Senior Buyer to work as part of a collaborative, high-performing team within the Purchasing department. Actual job title will be dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and work experience.
Buyers and Senior Buyers will have the opportunity to work in different Purchasing categories throughout their career depending on business need. The Purchasing categories include On-Site Services category and Materials & Energy,  Maintenance, Repair and Operations (Part Sourcing), Business Systems, Transportation, and Capital Project Sourcing. The successful candidate will be placed based on experience and fit. 
Overall Responsibility:
-Manage the Purchase Order Fullfillment process for assigned categories through administration and adherence to the supporting processes: negotiations, approvals, invoicing, price management, supplier management, inventory management, contract design, receipt of goods, Purchase Quality System. 
-Actively lead in supply chain end-to-end process.
-The Senior Buyer will independently lead significant purchase initiatives with high business impact.
Accountabilities:
-Prepare bid packages, analyze quotes, and work with stakeholders to make/negotiate the lowest Total Cost of Ownership award decision.  Design purchase orders that are accurate, with sound financial controls, and structured to streamline the time/effort for stakeholders in the POF process to administer/pay.
-Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including Suppliers, Business Units, and all teams within Purchasing & Logistics.
-Evaluate and record supplier performance, identify corrective action, set improvement targets and recommend appropriate recognition of suppliers.
-Provide coordination and work direction for Buying Team resources.
-Act as the lead facilitator to resolve conflict between the plant and suppliers by managing contracts and resolving problems in delivery, scheduling, scope changes, price issues and quality concerns. Lead meetings with cross functional teams to enhance collaboration.
-Mentor team members to enhance and/or develop skills.
-Regularly update knowledge transfer documentation.  Train the business units and suppliers on the information required to accurately administer your PO's.
-Manages and submits, upon review and active participation from Manager, financial requirements (ie. month end/year end close, MRF inputs and budget/5-year planning).
-Completes comparisons of financial requirements to Corporate and previous year inputs as required by Financial.  Manages inventory expectations/targets.
-Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that contribute toward achievement of cost savings. 
 
Knowledge and Skills: 
-Working knowledge of Purchasing Business Systems, long-term purchasing strategy, annual procurement goals are required.
-Basic knowledge of how the Manufacturing process operates in relation to assigned categories is an asset.
-Working knowledge of category sourcing procedures and applicable laws, standards, and procedures of assigned categories are required.
-Working knowledge of all Purchase Order Fulfillment processes is required.
-Competencies:  Decision Making and Analysis, Results Orientation, Teamwork.
-Working to intermediate knowledge of assigned categories and the fundamentals of the supply markets and supply base are required.
-Good initiative - takes action and operates with a high sense of urgency
-Working to intermediate knowledge of Purchasing Negotiation, Price Management, and Financial Controls, processes are required.
-Intermediate computer skills with using Microsoft office suite of products (Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
-Strong planning, prioritization, organization, multitasking, problem solving, analytical, and decision-making-skills are required.
-Engaged and collaborative team player, holds self and others accountable.
-Intermediate communication (verbal, written, and comprehension) and presentation skills are required.
-Good coaching and mentoring skills are required.
Education & Experience:

-Minimum 4-year University Degree in Engineering/Business is preferred.
-2+ years of relevant work experience is an asset.  
-SCMP/ CPIM certification or similar is considered an asset
-Experience with automated purchasing processes using financial information systems, MRP/ ERP tools i.e. SAP, etc., is considered an asset.
Work Environment:   
-Office working environment with some requirements to meet in the plant/manufacturing facilities or with suppliers which will require the wearing of personal protective equipment.
-This position is eligible for remote work in accordance with our current remote work policy. 
Hours of Work:
-Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads.
-Flexibility to determine workday start and end times outside core business hours, to fit personal needs.
