Elephant Garden Creamery is an artisanal ice cream shop seeking an individual to help produce batches of ice cream and also help serve our guests. As a small business in the Grandview-Woodland area, we are currently building a fun and community oriented team that has a solid appreciation for amazing ice cream flavours. Key responsibilities but are not limited to:
- Closely working with Production Manager to meet production needs by meticulously churning ice cream to be packed as pints or tubs in a clean and orderly work environment
- Cleaning and sanitizing ice cream machine and utensils with the utmost care
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the FoodSafe kitchen area
- Preparing ingredients for ice cream batching
- Organizing kitchen space when needed
- Receiving ingredients properly and storing it away to its appropriate location
- Ensures quality control measures are being taken and food safety standards are maintained
- General dishwashing duties
- Ingredient, packaging and ice cream inventory checks and following FIFO
Front of House Staff responsibilities and duties:
- Describe the flavour lineup knowingly with enthusiasm
- Provide positive, attentive and engaging customer service
- Able to consistently serve all menu items to meet our quality and presentation standards
- Promote sustainability by following recycling and composting procedures
- Operate our POS and be able to handle cash or credit/debit transactions
- Maintain a clean and organized area at all times
- Perform opening and closing duties
- At times must be able to work comfortably alone with minimal supervision
- Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
- Being a foodie is part of your passion in life
- Enjoys working in a kitchen environment
- Can lift up to 25kg (~55 lbs)
- Can stand for long periods of time (6-7 hours)
- Be comfortable with repetitive tasks and physical work
- Must be able to follow structured recipe instructions and be familiar on how to scale ingredients
- Strong communicator with warm energy and always has willingness to learn
- Strives to be efficient via collaborative teamwork with food safety in mind and without compromising quality by ensuring consistency of products being produced
- Takes accountability for your results and takes pride in your work
- Ready to contribute to a growing team
- Values in creating a cold comfort product that brings joy in simple ways and to build a connection amongst the community with premium ice cream as the medium
- Comfortable handling cold product
You have the following:
- Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
- Currently in Post-Secondary Education or graduated.
- 1+ Baking/ Culinary experience
- Strong references
