As a Risk Management Coordinator, you will support the identification and assessment of the corporate risks through the yearly Integrated Risk Management (IRM) process. Your role will support Calgary Police Service (CPS) management to address and communicate to the Calgary Police Commission (CPC) as well as the community about organizational strategies employed to address community concerns and risks to the public trust and confidence.  Primary duties include:
  • Provide technical support to work areas at the CPS regarding the implementation of the Integrated Risk Management Framework including methodology, tools and templates for the assessment and management of risk at any level in the organization.
  • Maintain the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) database, update the risk registers at different organizational levels and provide information to the risk owners regarding risk details and mitigation strategies.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data related to risks, ensuring accuracy and completeness for informed decision-making. 
  • Support and coordinate IRM quarterly schedule with regular partner meetings and participate in planning IRM reporting process with Senior Leadership and Calgary Police Commission.
  • Collaborate with risk owners to communicate risk-related information effectively, prepare reports and presentations on the IRM related subjects. 
  • Monitor the progress of risk mitigation activities, track changes in risk profiles and provide regular updates to the Senior Risk Advisor.
  • Provide guidance and support to all members on Risk Management practices, promote a culture of risk awareness and accountability within the organization.
  • Prepare, circulate and facilitate various types of communications to diverse audiences from various levels of the organization. Assist in coordinating events, such as information sessions and workshops.
 

 
 
Qualifications
  • A degree in Social Science, Business Management, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in a Risk Management, audit, finance, accounting or closely related field (for example: banking or financial institution) is required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Certification and/or formal training in Risk Management will be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong analytical thinking skills, change management, coaching and development, advanced research and facilitation skills and efficiency and thoroughness. An effective communicator with the ability to build strong relationships along with a strong focus on results.

  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.

  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
