POSITION TITLE:Camp Inclusion Coordinator

LOCATION OF POSITION Non-Union

TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: The Camp Coordinator will be directly supervised by Manager of Community and Family Supports.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Under the supervision of the Manager of Community and Family Supports, the Camp Coordinator is responsible to facilitate the partnerships and the day to day operation of Summer Camp Programs. The Camp Coordinator, organizes and assists in Summer Camp efforts for Community Living Fort Erie. Collaborates with a team and oversees implementation of inclusion within the Community Partners Summer Camps.

STATEMENT OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY

- Work closely with the Family Support Case Manager

- Counselors training and orientation for Summer Camp.

- Notify family members for registration and identify any cost of fees for camper participation.

- Establish and maintain contacts with off-site camp staff, guests, children, co-workers, community and parents.

- Camp Coordinator will assist in interviewing potential Respite Care Aides and develop work schedules for Summer Camp employees.

- Work closely with Respite Care Aides to ensure all children are being included and that modifications to activities are occurring when needed.

- Ensure assistive devices are available to children to ensure barrier free participation.

- Provide supervision and direction to Summer Camp staff in support of Summer Camp Program.

- Responsible to submit all reports and time sheets.

- Complete a written evaluation.

- Work with Community Partners to secure placement and support at the different camp locations

- All additional duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

- Thorough knowledge of Community Living Fort Erie’s Mission & Vision, working towards Inclusion.

- Planning and organizational background.

- Care and knowledge to administer medication to campers who have submitted authorization.

- Able to work with others and set a good example as a role model and team leader.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal required.

- Ensure all Counselors have knowledge, understanding and follow all Community Living Fort Erie Health & Safety Regulations.

- Be flexible and creative, adapting activities so all campers can enjoy them.

Camp Coordinator will receive specialized training in First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, WHIMIS, Fire Extinguisher Training, Universal Precaution and Infection Control, Medication Administration, Abuse Training, Safe Lifting, Safe Food Handling Training and Leadership Development.

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:

- Experience working with children that have Intellectual challenges is an asset.

- May be required to work at different locations

- Must have own vehicle for transportation

- Valid First Aid Certificate

- Valid Non Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate

- A current Niagara Regional Police Clearance Certificate with Vulnerable Sector clearance. Must have Community Living Fort Erie’s name specified. Must be dated within three months of hire.

- Valid Ontario Driver’s Full “G” license

- Valid Ontario drivers abstract.

- Current WHIMS Certificate

- Certificate of Worker Health & Safety Awareness in 4 Steps

Time Requirements: Up to 35 hours per week

WAGE RATE:

$20.50 per hour
