Job description

Are you passionate about creating unforgettable experiences for children and youth in a unique and picturesque setting? The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Director for Camp Stephens, a boat-access-only camp nestled in the heart of Lake of the Woods, Ontario.

As the Director, you will:

  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to the YMCA-YWCA's mission and values.
  • Ensure camp operations and programs, including out-tripping canoe programs, meet high safety and quality standards.
  • Hire, train, coach, and supervise a team of approximately 80 seasonal employees.
  • Recruit and engage spring and fall user groups, facilitating information sessions and developing program schedules.
  • Collaborate with the administrative team to maintain excellent customer service and efficient camp operations.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, camping associations, volunteers, program partners, and vendors.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Post-secondary education in Recreation & Leisure, Outdoor Education, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of camp management experience, preferably in an overnight camp setting.
  • Certifications in Standard First Aid, CPR, AED defibrillator training, Life Saving Society NL, class 5 driver’s licence, Operator in Training – Water Treatment, Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP), WHMIS.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety & health regulations, risk management, and incident and injury reporting,
  • Clear Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Experience

Required
  • 5 - 10 years: A minimum of 5 years of camp management experience, preferably in an overnight camp setting.
