Campground/Park Cleaner

Kananaskis Country Campgrounds operates and maintains numerous provincial campgrounds and day use areas located throughout five valleys of Kananaskis Country, in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. We are seeking a highly motivated, hard working, and responsible retired couple to fill two temporary summer positions supporting park operations in cleaning and maintenance. These positions are ideally suited to couples who work well together and love the RV life! We are searching for those who are interested in spending their summer camping in the beautiful Alberta mountains, those able to be actively working in the campground, and those who would thrive interacting with the public and promoting enjoyment of Kananaskis and the parks. Excellent communication and positive interpersonal skills are needed.

Job Responsibilities: Based out of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park and working mainly outdoors, the successful candidates would be responsible for helping with the day to day cleaning and sanitization of the park day use areas, campgrounds and facilities. Main job duties would include daily cleaning of shower facilities, day use area & campsite cleaning (including cleaning of vault toilets, emptying fire pits, litter picking, raking sites). The position also includes interacting with park users in a friendly manner to answer inquiries and to provide assistance.

Skills: We are seeking reliable employees who can be trusted to get the job done and take pride in their work. Strong time management, sound judgement and decision making, cleaning skills with attention to detail and an ability to adapt to an ever changing work environment are required. Previous cleaning experience would be considered an asset. This position involves working outside in all conditions. A moderate level of physical fitness is required as the job includes walking, bending, lifting, and repeated activities & movements. However seniors and retirees/semi-retirees are welcome! A valid class 5 driver’s license and clean driving abstract are required.

Positions will involve working both independently and with others. An easy-going nature and the ability to get along with others are very important as our staff both live and work together.

Details: A campsite is provided for you in our maintenance area next to other staff members. You must have your own RV to stay in and it must be a hard-sided unit (motorhome, 5th wheel, trailer, etc.). Power, water and sewer services are provided at your site for a fee and we provide propane for your unit. This is a seasonal position from early June until mid-September 2024, with the possibility of an extension.

Working hours are roughly 9-5, with a 5 days on, two days off schedule. Days off would be mid-week, as working weekends is required.
