SalarySpecific duties and responsibilities:
- Seasonal maintenance/groundskeeping (e.g. painting, light carpentry, custodial, mowing and other landscaping duties)
- General maintenance and repair of Municipal equipment
- Seasonal (Spring, Fall) opening and closing of property
- Report all concerns regarding operations at the site to the Director of Public Works
- Assist with the general maintenance and repair of Municipal infrastructure (including Cape Forchu lighthouse buildings, trail, etc.) notwithstanding this, the Cape Forchu property will be the first priority
- Duties as may be assigned relating to on-site events
- May be scheduled for special events as needed
- Carry out responsibilities in adverse and variable weather conditions
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment
- Monitor water level in cistern and order water delivery as needed
- Operating various types of equipment/machinery (i.e. push lawn mower, gas trimmer, golf cart, hand tools)
- Maintain daily work activity logs and produce reports as required
- Obtain and maintain specific training (including related to safety, vehicle compliance, etc.)
- Participate in job specific and organizational specific training as required
- Other duties as assigned by the Director
Working environment:
- Working outdoors, exposed to the elements (rain, cold and hot temperatures, etc.)
- May be required to work at heights
- Physically demanding activities
- Driving vehicles and/or combination of equipment
- Communication with public
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate with public in a professional manner
- Have and maintain valid NS Driver’s license
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems, general repair and maintenance of equipment and machinery
Job Types: Permanent, Seasonal
Salary: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
