Carpenter
As a Carpenter with BLT, you will deliver a high level of quality work onsite for our clients. Our carpenters work on a diverse range of sites including restaurants, hospitality, retail, office, institutional, and residential.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, team orientated and energetic individual with demonstrated experience in carpentry. Reporting to the Site Superintendent, you will have the opportunity to work with a team, building exciting projects for our clients. This role requires elevated skills in communication, quality workmanship and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- General knowledge/understanding of construction practices
- Complete carpentry duties, with or without supervision
- Wood framing, carpentry skills, installation of doors, blocking, hardware
- Finish carpentry and millwork installation
- Ability to read blueprints
- Able to adapt to changing client needs and deliver successful results within the project time frame
- Operate a variety of hand and power carpentry tools, and other construction equipment
- Arrive on site prepared for work with the tools and PPE necessary to complete required tasks
- Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting, including records of time, expenses, and materials
- Order materials/equipment for job sites
- Maintain inventory of current and new materials for delivery to BLT job sites
- Foster a positive and professional work environment onsite with trades and BLT team members
- Perform all work in accordance with BLT’s Occupational Health and Safety Policies and promote adherence to Health and Safety requirements to all trades at the job site
- Exercise an eye for detail and knowledge of construction quality standards
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in a carpentry role
- Strong English language communication skills (written, oral, and conflict resolution skills)
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a good driving record, reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel
- Evidence of a “safety first” attitude
- Possess own set of hand tools
- Must be confident using a smartphone to access emails and applications
- Must be capable of meeting the following physical demands, including, but not limited to lifting or carrying 50 lbs, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, and crawling for extended periods of time
- Must be able to read basic construction drawings
- Valid licenses for various on-site lift equipment would be an asset
- Knowledge of BC’s Building Code would be an asset

Salary: $20.50-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
