Job Description
The Cashier Shift Lead is a Team Leader and Cashier Support Individual. They act as a liaison between the cashiers and the management in absence of the Front End Manager.
The Shift Lead is responsible for the efficiency of the checkout process as well as the completion of the daily task list and any other duties as assigned by management.
The Shift Lead sets the example for the other cashiers as it pertains to customer service, employee code of conduct, professionalism, and support of store initiatives.
Job Duties
- Strive to advance your knowledge, skills, and abilities and consistently share these with others
- Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge
- Ensure store conditions are consistently upheld to established standards
- Prepare sales and accept cash, credit card, or automatic debit payment
- Know any new items by either reading the communication binder or looking back on previous break sheets to see if anything new has been added
- Making sure carts and baskets are returned and if you cannot personally do that page someone to assist with returning them
- Keeping eating areas neat and tidy, ensuring other cashiers understand the importance of this task
- Registers are stocked, clean, and organized nightly. Plastic bags, receipt rolls, tissue paper, tape, staplers, etc. Ensure that returns are done, Sheldon Creek bottles are returned to the cooler, etc.
- Ensure grocery orders are rung in, packed, and brought to the fridge in a timely manner
- When customers arrive for orders, assist/delegate a cashier to bring out the orders to customers/delivery drivers
- Any other duties as required by the Front-End Manager, Store Managers, and Owners
Job Requirements
- Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of customers and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required
- Strong knowledge of retail sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- High level of integrity and work ethic
