Responsibilities:
Job Duties
- Tractor operations including but not limited to spraying, mowing, cultivating, weeding.
- Maintaining the irrigation
- Hand work (sucking, thinning, tucking, pruning, tying, etc.)
- General vineyard and trellis maintenance.
- Pre-harvest sampling
- Assisting in receiving, sorting and processing fruit
- Operate crusher/de-stemmer, press, conveyer, and pump,
- Racking juice, filling, topping and stirring barrels,
- Perform punch downs, pump-overs,
- Pre/during/post ferment additions
- Monitor and record density and temperature, as needed,
- Removing pomace from tanks and presses,
- Operation of a forklift
- Accurate record keeping on work orders
- General cleaning and sanitization of winery and winery equipment.
- A variety of other tasks
Requirements:
2-3 years direct vineyard and cellar experience
- Overseas harvest an asset
- Forklift experience – license an asset. We provide training
- Lab experience an asset
- Working/Intermediate Viticulture knowledge
- Tractor experience an asset
- Excellent communication and Microsoft Office skills
- Able to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, extended shifts on your feet, able to meet the physical demands of vineyard work
- Legally permitted to work in Canada
- Focused and motivated with attention to detail with aspirations to become a head winemaker
