Cellar & Vineyard Assistant

Responsibilities:
Job Duties

• Tractor operations including but not limited to spraying, mowing, cultivating, weeding.
• Maintaining the irrigation
• Hand work (sucking, thinning, tucking, pruning, tying, etc.)
• General vineyard and trellis maintenance.
• Pre-harvest sampling
• Assisting in receiving, sorting and processing fruit
• Operate crusher/de-stemmer, press, conveyer, and pump,
• Racking juice, filling, topping and stirring barrels,
• Perform punch downs, pump-overs,
• Pre/during/post ferment additions
• Monitor and record density and temperature, as needed,
• Removing pomace from tanks and presses,
• Operation of a forklift
• Accurate record keeping on work orders
• General cleaning and sanitization of winery and winery equipment.
• A variety of other tasks

Requirements:
2-3 years direct vineyard and cellar experience

• Overseas harvest an asset
• Forklift experience – license an asset. We provide training
• Lab experience an asset
• Working/Intermediate Viticulture knowledge
• Tractor experience an asset
• Excellent communication and Microsoft Office skills
• Able to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, extended shifts on your feet, able to meet the physical demands of vineyard work
• Legally permitted to work in Canada
• Focused and motivated with attention to detail with aspirations to become a head winemaker

Salary: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
