Job Summary

The chef working at Little Cubs Family Fun Centre will prepare and cook meals for
Cubs Café located inside the indoor playground. The chef will prepare food for kid’s birthday parSes and special events and must demonstrate skills in preparing food in a nutriSous, good tasSng and appealing manner. The chef can be creaSve with food opSons on the menu and has endless potenSal to grow. The chef will create a list of weekly grocery shopping list and order food as needed.

Organizational information

Responsibilities

  • Ability to cook consistently at a high level of excellence.
  • Maintaining established standards for Cubs Café.
  • Supporting the menu and recipe development.
  • Prepare meals that are child friendly yet nutritious.
  • Following FIFO (first in, first out) method to maximize freshness.
  • Determining when there is a need for additional help to maintain satisfactory service.
  • Inspecting work areas, supplies, ingredients, and cooking equipment to ensure constant conformance to regulatory standards.
  • Meeting with parents when necessary to arrange menu items for birthday parties, and other special occasions.
  • Analyzing recipes and making menu changes when necessary to minimize overhead costs while keeping customers happy.
  • Coordinating all food budgeting, purchasing, and planning operations.
  • Monitoring and overseeing sanitation practices to ensure that employees strictly adhere to the standards and regulations of cleanliness.
  • Maintain necessary records such as items purchased, refrigerator and freezer temperatures, food temperatures etc.
  • NoSfy the Director/Supervisor of problems with any appliances.
  • A\end workshops relevant to posiSon.
  • Attend meetings with staff as required.

HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow Canada’s Good Guide and all Public Health recommendations and requirements.
  • Awareness of food allergies and special diets and prepare separate meals if necessary.
  • Conform to all food/sanitation regulations such as keeping the appliances, floor, sinks, and cupboards cleaned to maintain a clean kitchen.
  • Proper clothing, shoes, and hair restraints according to Public Health Standards and Childcare are to be worn daily.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Order, store, prepare and serve food to retain maximum nutritive value and to prevent contamination.
  • Plan menus that follow Canada’s Food Guide.
  • Maintaining records/receipts pertaining to the kitchen.

Education and Qualifications

  • Valid Food Handler Certificate.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certified.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes.
  • Energetic, positive, dependable, flexible, and hard working.

Knowledge/Skills and other Requirements

  • Culinary experience: 2 years (preferred)
  • Kitchen management: 1 year (preferred)
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to follow direction and work independently.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Salary: $17.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
