The role. Mercer Peace River has a great opportunity within our Technical Services Department for a highly motivated individual to participate in a 4 or 8 month work term from May 2024 to August or December 2024. Supporting the Technical Group, the Chemical Engineering Co-op Student will be responsible for process investigation, analysis and report writing. This position requires excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, critical thinking, and communication skills. It is important that the ideal candidate be a critical thinker and engage in effective 2-way communication.

Role and Responsibilities

• Compute various calculations based on given data, more specifically, mass balance calculations.
• Interpret P&C drawings.
• Design Method of Procedure (MOPS) graphics.
• Conduct presentations and meetings based on field work experience.
• Process flow and control problems.
• Learn and work with Honeywell systems.
• Additional duties, as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Applicant should be a 2nd or 3rd year Chemical Engineering student.

Candidates should also have experience with:

• Problem solving and troubleshooting.
• Microsoft Office experience, particularly Excel.
• Extensive communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Prioritizing workloads, managing projects, thinking critically and overall flexibility.

• Compensation will be based on level of education completed with a starting hourly rate range of $33.05-$35.25.
