Job description

A career as a Chief Advisor in the National Bank Planning and Benefits team at National Bank mainly means supporting the financial security advisors of the National Bank Insurance Firm as a specialist in insurance, financial planning and taxation

Your job

  • Contribute to the business development of advisors, by developing their technical, professional and tax skills so that they have a competitive advantage over their network.
  • Create, develop and facilitate presentations and training workshops on topics related to tax and estate planning.
  • Act as a recognized expert and resource person in complex cases, in the analysis and validation of client needs and make appropriate recommendations (shareholders' agreements, trusts, etc.)
  • Accompany advisors (as needed) as a specialist during client meetings as well as with their professional advisors and centres of influence (accountants, lawyers, tax specialists, etc.)
  • Increase the visibility and notoriety of the firm by actively participating in the activities offered by the APFF, Canadian Tax Foundation and the Institute of Financial Planning.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with external tax and legal advisors to properly direct clients and ensure better coordination with all stakeholders.
  • Develop your internal relationships of influence and any other stakeholders that will allow you to keep your network active.
  • Actively participate in the development of various professional development seminars or client seminars offered by National Bank.

Your team:

Part of National Bank Insurance business line, you will be reporting to the President of NBPB and will act as an expert for life and health insurance professionals serving high-net-worth or commercial clients.


Basic requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree related to the sector of activity and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree related to the sector of activity and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or any other relevant combination of experience and training
  • Master's degree or Graduate Diploma in Taxation or successful completion of the CICA in-depth course.
  • Diploma from the Institute of Financial Planning (formerly IQPF)
  • Possess a relevant professional designation (CPA, Barreau du Québec, Chambre des notaires) Excellent knowledge of life and health insurance products
  • Knowledge of taxation and estate planning
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple, comprehensive and practical manner.
  • Good organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and ability to work in a team.
