Child and Youth Therapist- Maternity Leave

Title: Child and Youth Therapist

Department: Special Needs

Status: Contract Full-time

Start Date: Immediately

End Date: June 20, 2024

Pay Grid: Other

Reporting to: School Admin team

Summary of Duties:

The Child and Youth Therapist works with students aged 4-18 within a school-based setting. The Child and Youth Therapist uses trauma-informed and therapeutic modalities including narrative therapy, expressive arts, and CBT. The Child and Youth Therapist will report to the school admin support team.

Key Deliverables and Expectations:

Provide therapy to children and Youth aged 4-18 and carry a caseload of individual clients, co-facilitate group therapy and maintain appropriate records.

Be prepared and comfortable presenting psychoeducation to students in their classrooms (including but not limited to boundaries, abuse prevention, healthy relationships, and mental health information as needed and requested by teaching staff and administration).

Participate in school-based teams, inter-agency teams and develop mental health resources when needed

Liaise and attend meetings with other health care professionals and service providers when requested by clients (to best support a circle of care and mental health) and with appropriate informed consent.

Be available for debriefing and support for staff regarding mental health in the classroom and to support the mental health of the students on your caseload.

Participate in peer supervision and personal supervision as needed or requested.

Be open to participating in culturally oriented activities (including but not limited to; stein Valley hiking, Outdoor-based super courses, learning Ucwalmicwts words and phrases).

Record Keeping: Keep a file for each student including but not limited to the signed permission, Welcome to Counselling Agreement, Informed Consent documents, a record of dates, times, and themes of sessions.

Perform other related duties as requested.

Experience and Attributes:

University degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams.

Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and time management skills.

Ability to meet deadlines prioritizes assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Motivated self-starter and with strong interpersonal skills.

Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members
