Position Overview
This is a great opportunity for anyone who has considered opening their own daycare or providing babysitting in their own home, with the stability of working for a business. As a Childcare Provider, you have a genuine and natural affinity for children. You communicate in a clear and positive manner, are empathetic to the needs of the children and can remain patient and calm.
Core Responsibilities:
- Supervise and care for the children of employees of Cabot Cape Breton.
- Change diapers and dress infants and toddlers.
- Prepare formulas and assist with meal preparation including snacks.
- Provide age-appropriate educational training through organized activities such as games, crafts, songs, reading and outings.
- Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment in the home.
- Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding each child.
- Support child’s emotional well-being and social development.
- Communicate with parents regarding their children(s)’ development.
- Develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime.
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Educator Diploma or Degree with Infant and Toddler Certification License to Practice, and asset, but not required.
- 1+ years’ experience of working with children.
- Highly responsible & reliable
- First Aid CPR Level C.
Requirements of the role you should be aware of:
Based on the nature of our business and the service we provide to our guests, to work with us, you must consent to a criminal background check as a condition of employment and an additional criminal background check every two years. For this role, the incumbent will be also require a Vulnerable Sector search as well as the Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching.
- Exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects.
- Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps.
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
