We are looking for a Claims Advisor to join our team in our Montreal office!

As a Claims Adjuster, you will be responsible to act as a liaison between the customer and the insurer in the resolution of all claims and perform all tasks related to the fair and equitable settlement of claims. In addition, you will be called upon to answer our customers' questions and assist them in the process of settling claims under the syndicate's deductible.

Your day as a Claims Adjuster

  • Gather the circumstances and briefly establish the extent of the damage in order to guide the insured through the claims process, right from the start of the file.
  • Study contracts and obtain all the facts in order to provide the insurer with the information.
  • Assist the insured in the progress of the file, to ensure that tasks are carried out correctly and within reasonable deadlines.
  • Meet with responders at the scene of a loss.
  • Assist the insured in managing liability notification letters.
  • Analyze the insured's chances of recovery, in accordance with current legislation.
  • Analyze claims and coverages, and recommend solutions to coverage problems.
  • Provide technical expertise to internal and external clients regarding claims coverage.
  • Negotiate settlements with the contractor on behalf of the insured for losses under the deductible.
  • Inform the customer of the status of the payment claim.
  • Enter and maintain file information in the LEO system.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for each claim
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with adjusters, third-party insurers, and suppliers.
  • Anticipate certain problems in order to act proactively with those concerned.
  • Develop and distribute claims notification reports identifying major losses, and frequency trends for management and/or customers.
  • Support colleagues with claims for problematic files and difficult situations.
  • Monitor the progress of a file in order to reduce processing time.
  • Participate in presentations to customers, potential customers, and/or associations.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in claims management.
  • Commercial lines adjuster license.
  • Good project management and presentation skills.
  • Customer and service-oriented.
  • Bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
  • Good knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
