Landtran Logistics Inc, has a Full-Time vacancy for a qualified Class 1 Local Driver but will be required to drive a 5 ton on occasion). You will be responsible for: general freight, deliveries, home delivery of medical supplies within Calgary and surrounding areas, and occasional warehouse duties.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Load and unload truck, either individually or with assistance of dock workers, with or without mechanical freight-handling equipment.
- Perform lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight.
- Inspect truck for defects and safe operating conditions before, during, and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the truck and trailer at the end of each trip or tour of duty
- Deliver freight as per customer requirements
- Check shipping papers to determine the nature of load
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have Short-haul, Local Delivery with some Warehouse experience
- Monday to Friday
- Class 1 Driver's License
- Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
- Utilized a Straight trucks with power tailgate
- Overtime paid after 9 hours per day- (Federal Regulations Standards)
- Expectation of 9 hours per day
- $28.00 an hour
- 4% Safety Incentive effective upon hire date paid quarterly
- Weight Handling: Up to 35 kg (77 lbs.)
- Able to pass a Drug and Alcohol test and a Road Evaluation
Documentation Knowledge:
- Driver logbook (e-logs knowledge an asset)
- Bill of lading
- Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
- Maintenance and repair reports
- Accident or incident reports
- Dangerous goods occurrence reports
- Communication Equipment Experience: Cellular phone, (PeopleNet Tablet / Samsara knowledge an asset)
Specific Skills:
- Safely operate and drive straight trucks to transport medical supplies
- Loading and unloading of medical supplies into patient homes
- Ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Plan travel schedules and routes
- Receive and relay information to central dispatcher
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
- Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service
- Security and Safety: Bondable, Basic security clearance
- Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
- Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Valid driver's license
