Class 5 Delivery Truck Driver - 3 Ton Truck

Full – Time permanent position with benefits
Start time: 630AM to 3PM with 30 minute lunch
Working days: Monday to Friday
No Weekends or Holidays

***Shift end time will vary due to freight volume, traffic delays, weather, mechanical breakdown etc.... Overtime is paid after 9 hours worked***

What you will do:

• 3 Ton Refrigerated Truck to deliver and or pick up freights to assigned stops within the Urban areas of Dartmouth, Cole Harbour and Sackville
• Deliver freights in good condition and within scheduled time (approximately 25+ deliveries/day and up to 5 Pick-ups)
• Use a handheld device to scan documents and freights
• Load and Unload freight in proper sequence with the use of a pallet jack or a dolley as required
• Complete any necessary paperwork accurately
• Perform all safety checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspection
• Report on all safety hazards and accidents
• Use a cellular phone to communicate with Dispatch, Lead Hand and Manager ie. Truck breakdowns, delivery concerns, answer calls, texts etc….
• Provide excellent customer service
• Build strong client relationships

• Additional duties as required

What we require of you:

• High School Diploma
• Valid Class 5 License is a must
• Valid Class 3 Commercial Driver’s License is an asset
• Clean Commercial and Personal Driver’s Abstract
• Courier or LTL experience is an asset
• Minimum 1 year Commercial delivery TRUCK driving experience
• Load and Unload freight in proper sequence with the use of a pallet jack or a dolley as required
• Have physical stamina to perform duties in the job ie. lift up to 50lbs
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork
• Customer Focus – experience providing quality customer service
• Adaptable to change
• Experience working in a fast paced environment
• Experience working independently and with minimal supervision
• Ability to work on a team and being a team player
• Must be comfortable with using onboard or handheld computer devices
