CONCURRENT DISORDERS CLINICAL COUNSELLOR

The role requires identification of the existence of concurrent disorders including substance use and related mental health problems, for client’s who minimize or dismiss use. The successful applicant will have strong skills working with concurrent disorders. Will be able to engage clients in psychiatric & bio-psycho-social assessments, mental status examinations, and case formulations. Will engage in development and implementation of outcome orientated treatment plans that cover concurrent disorders and case-management.
What you'll be doing:
The successful CDC Counsellor will provide treatment services to clients including individual, group, couples and family therapy and education according to theoretical models, with a strong focus on trauma counselling. Will collaborate with others to facilitate the management of cases; coordinate care using a supportive case management approach within the principles of harm reduction. Will engage client’s wider circle when treatment planning within the confines of established confidentiality practices. Will provide online webinars, education and training to community as required.
Will participate in case conferences/meetings with members of the multidisciplinary team for identification and management of client mental health issues. Participate in developing and providing education services and contribute to program development in order to meet the needs of the CDC population. Collaborates, consults and provides clinical support and education to colleagues for continuity of care, treatment concerns, specialized services and community resource coordination.

What you'll need:
Required Education, Training, and Experience:
Masters Degree in clinical counselling OR clinical psychology plus three (3) years’ recent, related experience working with clients who have substance use disorders/addictions and/or who are frequently characterized as concurrent disordered.
Bachelors Degree in Psychology (applicants without a Bachelors Degree in Psychology will not be considered)
