Job Summary

The Adoption and Permanency Branch is responsible for supporting timely permanency planning and adoption for children and youth in care throughout the Ministry of Children and Family Development, Indigenous Child and Family Service Agencies and the practice oversight of Licensed Adoption Agencies. The branch provides direct services to the public and stakeholders throughout BC, Canada and internationally in the administration of Adoption Registries. Pursuant to the Adoption Act, the branch operates five registries including the Adoption Reunion Registry, the Inter-country Registry, the Openness Exchange Registry, the Post-adoption Openness Registry and the Parents’ Registry.

This position receives, reviews, and validates incoming submissions to the branch, and clarifies case information with clients. The position also makes initial determinations or recommendations within established criteria and guidelines.



Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a records management environment.
  • Experience providing administrative/clerical support.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Preference may be given for the following:

  • Minimum 6 months of experience applying legislation and regulations.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in the use of CLIFF correspondence system
  • Minimum 6 months of experience using MCFD applications such as: CRMS, ARCS/ORCS, ICM, MIS, AMS
  • Completed post-secondary coursework in office administration.
  • Experience making meeting and travel arrangements
  • Knowledge of the ORCS and ARCS records management policies, procedures and guidelines

About this Position:

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

An eligibility list may be established to fill future full-time or part-time temporary and permanent vacancies.
