Co-op Student - Commerce, Business Admin, Economics, Data Analytics - Summer 2024

Annual salary: $1740.04 - $2191.70 biweekly

What you'll do

Candidate selection, interviews and hiring will take place continuously from this single posting – this means while there is a

We are looking for team-oriented Co-op students who demonstrates strong research, analytical, stakeholder engagement
and problem-solving skills. As a member of one of BC Hydro’s business unit teams, the candidates will be responsible for
supporting various analytical research projects and initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
  • Activities may include: conducting business analysis; initiating and engaging with stakeholders; gathering, preparing and
presenting data for review; drafting reports and findings; record management support; project tracking; and supporting
project teams, as needed.
The student will learn about the utility industry and be given the opportunity to develop skillsets in the following areas:
process improvement, data analysis and stakeholder engagement presenting and facilitating information and findings,
project management, developing analytical/strategic thinking, and problem solving.

What you bring

  • To qualify as a candidate, individual's must be enrolled in the Co-op Program and have yet to graduate from a recognized
post-secondary institution in Canada.
  • Strong research, analytical, project management, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience and interest in business analysis projects, as well as analyzing and presenting data and findings to project
team members.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Powerpoint).
  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills and the ability to
work efficiently, independently and in a team environment.
  • Having completed accounting courses and having experience with Power Query/Power BI, Tableau or programming
languages such as Python or R would be an asset.

What we offer

  • As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required.

  • All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, there is opportunity to extend, to eight
months.
  • Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate
themselves if necessary.
