Commercial FP&A & Trade Analyst

As a finance professional, you will join our finance group as an integral member of our Commercial FP&A and Trade Compliance team. We are looking for a dynamic self-starter with excellent communication skills who thrives on new challenges and possesses an aptitude for strategy. It is a unique and exciting opportunity to develop your business acumen and expand your role as a business advisor in a high-profile position.

The Trade Compliance team is responsible for responding to U.S. Department of Commerce questionnaires regarding the ongoing softwood lumber trade dispute and working with trade lawyers to analyze large volumes of data for the required responses. The Commercial FP&A team's primary purpose is to use big data, timely business intelligence, and a financially oriented perspective to drive strategy in the sales and logistics functions.

In this role, you will initially support and eventually lead the company in managing the company's response to the anti-dumping allegations in the softwood lumber dispute. Your skills and experience with data will also be leveraged in systems implementation projects.

This role will expose you to a global view of our company, including how we do business, our legal structure, and our finance and business policies and practices. This position requires interaction with senior management (including C-Suite), employees at multiple locations, and third-party stakeholders. It requires the ability to change messages to fit the audience and exercise indirect influence across our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting the anti-dumping section of the US Trade File investigation, including gathering, summarizing, and presenting data, as well as being the point of contact with the lawyers and other 3^rd party experts
• Support the Commercial FP&A manager with ad hoc projects
• Analyzing sales and logistics data to identify insights and communicate them to management
• Designing and reporting on metrics and KPIs
• Preparing quarterly and year-end financial statement disclosures related to export duties

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Canadian CPA designation (foreign equivalents may be considered)
• 3+ years audit experience at a public practice firm, including at least 1 year at the senior associate level
• Well-established organizational and project management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong numerical reasoning skills
• Detailed and proactive approach to work
• Creative and inter-disciplinary approach to problem-solving
• Advanced technology-driven data analytics skills
• Mindset for process improvement and efficiency
• High level of motivation and energy

Considered an asset:

• Data manipulation and transformation skills in Microsoft Power Query
• Forest industry experience is preferred but not required.

The successful candidate will work in our Corporate Office in Vancouver, B.C., with some limited travel to our production facilities.
