Job description

Communications Coordinator

The South Shore Waldorf School is seeking a Communications Coordinator effective immediately. We are seeking an individual who is self-motivated, highly flexible, and able to manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time. Experience in a Waldorf or other school setting is preferred.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Exceptional time management skills and punctuality.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work independently.
  • Competent IT skills, e.g. Excel, Word, Google Suite, Mailchimp

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participates in all aspects of school life
  • Flexible in supporting the school administrative functions as needed.
  • Carries out the enrollment process for new and returning students
  • Organize, coordinate, schedule and perform a wide variety of tasks and office functions and activities related to the administration of diverse programs and operations.

Depending on need, some of the duties may include:

  • Front Office Manager
  • Manage reception (in-person + phone) of families, students, visitors and direct them to the appropriate party.
  • Delivery support: Student lunches, forgotten items, packages, mail.
  • Last-minute teacher support: copies, etc.
  • Provide coordination support to faculty (family communication, event logistics support, field trip support).
  • Maintain a monthly newsletter to families and friends of the school.

This position is 30 hours per week, year-round.

The South Shore Waldorf School, now in its 28th year, is operating out of a lovingly renovated century-old schoolhouse in Blockhouse, NS. Blockhouse is located

  • on Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore;
  • close to many beaches;
  • 3 minutes from the picturesque town of Mahone Bay;
  • 12 minutes from the charming town of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site;
  • 15 minutes from the regional hub Bridgewater;
  • 45 minutes southwest of Halifax;
  • one hour from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
