Bechtel is Metrolinx’s Delivery Partner (DP) for the new Ontario Line subway and part of an Integrated Project Team (IPT) overseeing the delivery of this new transformational transit project for the Greater Toronto Area. The multi-billion-dollar project includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 underground and elevated stations, along a 15 km alignment, with multiple public/private partnership contractors and several advance works contractors. 
Position Summary
Reporting to the Community Engagement Lead, the Community Engagement Specialist will provide support for Community Engagement and communications activities related to the Pape segment of the Ontario Line which includes a three-kilometer tunnel and two underground stations.
Responsibilities
-Support development of Community Engagement communications materials for advance work activities at the Gerrard Portal and Pape/Danforth and Cosburn, including community notices and materials for community and stakeholder meetings.
-Coordinate a weekly internal update meeting for the Gerrard Portal, including tracking and reporting on action items, and preparing meeting agendas and minutes.
-Attend regular Pape Segment construction progress meetings to keep informed about construction activities and schedule.
-Attend regular Community Engagement and communications meetings with contractors including monthly Communications Working Groups.
-Coordinate Pape segment activities with adjacent OL work for Lakeshore East and Don Valley Crossing.
-Contribute to maintaining the Community Engagement lookahead and other trackers.
-Arrange for IPT subject matter experts to attend community and stakeholder meetings.
-Coordinate contractor participation as required in community and stakeholder meetings.
-Participate in community canvassing and local community events as requested by Metrolinx.
 
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
-Degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, politics, or related discipline.
-Two-three years community relations and/or communications experience ideally on a large transit or public infrastructure project.
 
Additional Qualifications
-Knowledgeable about and experience working with the provincial and municipal governments and agencies.
