Hockey & Sports Program Instructors
ActivNation programs engage youth in healthy active living and developing skills such as teamwork, commitment and mental readiness. Sport specific skills and life skills are emphasized so that each youth can transfer these skills into their school and daily lives.
Most of our Fall & Winter programs work with Indigenous communities located 6-12 hours’ drive from the Ottawa region.
Complimentary to this we work with the community to ensure all youth are becoming leaders in sport, school and community; and most importantly leading a healthy and active lifestyle!
Responsibilities:
- Lead on-ice programs and Assign on-ice responsibilities to local helpers
- Supervise and assist with the evaluation of all local helpers.
- Complete Daily attendance, weekly & monthly program reports
- Serve as a role model at the arena and in the community encouraging participants to become healthier & well-rounded individuals.
- Check in at school daily and act as a role model during school hours
- Assist with local administrative duties as per the direction of the Sports Director;
- Deliver other program responsibility as per community consultations and directives
- Act as Coach or Assistant coach when needed with respective teams
Requirements:
- Interest in teaching Hockey or Broomball and sports skills to young participants aged 7-21;
- Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and positive.
- Must have good personal and managerial skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a strong Hockey or Broomball and educational background. Sports teaching and instructing experience
- Certificate of First Aid, and CPR, as well as basic hockey Canada Certs. are an asset
Program overview:
- Mid – Jan to end of April – Approx. 12-14 weeks total
- Fully furnished accommodations covered over the contract dates with internet access
- Travel covered to and from Community – Flight or Drive ($.55 KM)
- Approx. 30-40 hours per week
- 1-2 Weekends per month
- Commensurate Weekly Pay with Food Allowances
- Approx. $1,000 - $1,250 per week total compensation – dependent on experience
