Visiting Homemaker
Position Overview
The Homemaker drives to clients’ homes or locations to provide housekeeping services to clients, as directed by the organization.
Housekeeping services include but are not limited to, dusting, vacuuming and mopping, laundry, bathroom cleaning, disinfection duties, and meal preparation.
This position is focused on ensuring the client’s living space and personal effects are clean, tidy, and serviceable.
What you need to have:
- A High School Diploma, or greater, with at least 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with cleaning and meal preparation is an asset
- A Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract clear of uninsurable convictions
- Reliable vehicle and ability to travel to clients' homes throughout the assigned shift
- Current, clean criminal record check, including vulnerable sector check
- Awareness and respect for the cultural diversity of clients
- Knowledge and sensitivity to individuals with disabilities and disorders
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
- Preference will be given to candidates with proficiency in the French language
- Able to provide proof of full Covid-19 vaccination status
Applicants are encouraged to possess a current First Aid/CPR certification at the Class C or HCP level or higher. However, it is not mandatory for this position, as we provide training and certification during the orientation process.
What you need to do:
- Protect and promote the welfare, dignity, and individual rights of our clients at all times
- Drive to various client and operational locations to perform duties.
- Provide homemaking, as assigned; ensure the client’s surroundings and personal effects are clean, tidy, and serviceable
- Conduct errands for/with clients including, but not limited to grocery shopping, banking, paying bills, etc. as required
- Prepare nutritional meals as required
- Participate in regular training modules
- Adhere to the Scope of Practice
- Any other duties, as assigned

Other Considerations
Due to the changing nature of the Organization’s role and relationship with funders, the duties and responsibilities of this position may change, from time to time, necessitating the delegation of other related duties within the Organization.
This position is created and maintained within the Organization through program funding through the Government of Ontario. The continuation of this position within the organization is dependent on continued funding through the Government of Ontario.
