Job description

In today’s technologically savvy world, computer skills are essential to accessing a wide variety of jobs and ensuring our clients remain competitive in today’s labour market. CBI Health is seeking a Computer/Vocational Trainer to develop and provide computer education and facilitate clients in developing confidence and skills that can transfer to vocational development and a successful return to the workforce.

This is a remote role.

Take an Inside look at what you’ll do each day:

  • Facilitate vocational soft skills modules, and computer training modules to vocational clients in group settings and one-on-one, via virtual and in-person delivery methods.
  • Use facilitation, teaching, and training methods that are adaptable to the learning needs of the students.
  • Support participants in vocational and other skills development for pre-employment and job maintenance.
  • Build trust with the client through effective listening and communication, understanding their goals, frustrations/challenges, and fears/concerns.
  • Design, deliver, and facilitate course material ensuring course objectives met. Adapt materials as needed.
  • Provide orientation to course objectives of the program and services to be delivered.
  • Monitor progress of students and communicate with stakeholders
  • Execute assessment of students at entry to services and again at completion of services.
  • Audit all course content bi-annually and make required changes.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Technical training, in a technology-related field would be an asset
  • Experience with facilitating or instructing a group, in a computer lab environment preferred
  • Education and/or experience in Social Services would be an asset
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office and social media uses for job applications
  • Ability to lesson plan for multiple levels and work with adult learners from varied backgrounds and cultures
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, teamwork skills
  • Certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist would be an asset
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training or equivalent would be an asset
