The Halifax Convention Centre is part of the Nova Centre, a million-square-foot, mixed-use development that includes a hotel, office towers, and retail space. It is the largest integrated development project in the province's history.


THE POSITION:

The Halifax Convention Center managed by Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of Conference Attraction Coordinator with our Sales team.

The Conference Attraction Coordinator reports to the Director of Sales and is responsible for supporting and maintaining communication and engagement with strategic partners and external stakeholders to support Conference Attraction and development. The Conference Attraction Coordinator oversees strategic initiatives including engagement and awareness building activities with potential partners and local champions to encourage their leadership, knowledge sharing, and connections to support a bid to bring a conference to Halifax. This position is aligned with and supports the Conference Attraction efforts in the International & National markets.


THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule and manage stakeholder sessions including booking, content capture and follow up.
  • Proficient in research to identify key stakeholders and potential champions.
  • Regular and timely maintenance of an updated stakeholder contact list.
  • Comfortable engaging with external stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Administration and organization of regular communication between stakeholders and partners to ensure consistency and connection is maintained.
  • Local community outreach to develop prosperous networks of local leaders or subject matter experts (SMEs) including but not limited to academics, physicians or industry professionals.
  • Participate in meetings with local leaders and ensure consistent follow-up.
  • Ability to build and maintain external relationships and a high level of competence in stakeholder management.
  • Broad flexibility in outlook, task orientation, working style, and approach.

THE PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Communications or Economics, Political Science.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written in English
  • Outstanding people skills - confident communicator, listener, and networker
