Job Description

Lawson Engineering Ltd (LEL) has an opportunity for a full-time, temporary, Construction Inspector. As LEL has offices in Salmon Arm and Vernon the successful proponent may have the ability to work from either one of these offices. This opportunity is expected to be an 8-month term from April 1, 2024, to November 30, 2024.

At LEL we provide civil engineering and consulting services to provincial and local government, municipalities, and private sector clients throughout BC. LEL currently has a full-time staff of 17, including four (4) Professional Engineers, five (5) Engineers-in-Training, four (5) Applied Science Technologists, and two (3) administrative staff.

The successful candidate will have experience in municipal infrastructure and land development-related projects, preferably in the southern interior of British Columbia, and will possess a strong background working with municipalities, developers, and contractors with an emphasis on site inspection experience.

The roles of the successful candidate may include:

· Construction Supervision & Site Inspections;

· Contract Administration including Progress Claims;

· Preparing Inspection Reports and Documentation

Preferred Qualifications

· Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Equivalent;

· Professional registration with ASTTBC or the ability to register;

· Certified Public Works Inspector;

· MMCD Certified Contract Administrator (CAA) Certificate;

Demonstrated Experience and Skills

· Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction supervision and resident site inspections;

· Experience working with contractors in a civil construction environment;

· Understanding of municipal infrastructure design principles and best practices including MMCD standards and specifications;

· Proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with developers, clients, contractors, and regulatory entities;

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (word and excel).

LEL offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual. The salary range is expected to be between $40 and $58 per hour and is dependent on the successful candidates’ experience.
