Reporting to the General Manager, the Construction Manager will be responsible to lead the Project Managers Team in Calgary. The incumbent will make sure that our contracts are respected, our projects are on track financially and on-time and will handle some projects himself. He will also support the PM's management of various ongoing projects, maintaining good cost records for each project in regards to installation, reviewing, and extra-to-contract costs, risk mitigation and and being an effective liaison between the customer and our operations team when needed. The Construction Manager will also be responsible for the Placing division.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead the team of project managers for our projects in Alberta
- Review, analyze and negotiate contracts and project deliverables to ensure short and long term profitability
- Gather, review and analyze RFA's, change requests and claims from the clients with the PM's
- Meet with clients and operations team to get updates on projects and resolve potential issues
- Mitigate and manage NCR’s and Change orders
- Meet with the PM's to make sure we are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and scope of work
- Monthly claims reviews and submissions
- Preparing status reports by gathering, analyzing and summarizing relevant information.
- Manage several construction projects
- Conducting a post-project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Take on the role and responsibility for large and or key projects when necessary
- Managing of field resources such as placing equipment and labor
- Managing of direct reports such as Project managers, Field Superintendents and General Foreman
- Reviewing and assisting with drawings and conflicts thereof
- Assisting the detailing and technical teams where structural conflicts arise
- Dispute resolutions and resolving NOC and Back-charges
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address any issues.
- Pricing of tenders for various projects. (Placing, accessories and equipment)
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering or equivalent;
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role in construction
- 7 to 10 years experience in project management
- Understanding of construction law, reinforcing steel and construction of structures
- Ability to read and understand project specifications, drawings and details
- Strong communication and organizational skills;
- Good organizational and multitasking skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and problem solving skills;
- Knowledge of computer-aided design (Autocad);
