Cape Breton Sand & Gravel is seeking a Construction Surveyor to assist in the day to day operations for our various construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct land and site surveys and measurements using various surveying equipment and techniques;
- Collect and analyze data to determine boundaries, elevations, and other topographical features;
- Prepare detailed survey reports, maps, and drawings using GIS (Geographic Information System) software;
- Collaborate with engineers and construction teams to ensure accurate surveying for project planning and development;
- Manage surveying projects from start to finish data collection;
- Maintain and update survey records, databases, and documentation for future reference;
- Participate in supervision discussions to plan daily tasks/look ahead
- Review project drawings and designs ensuring adherence to specifications and standards
- Work closely with the Project Managers & Supervision to provide real-time answers
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Associated degree or college diploma;
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a surveyor;
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings;
- Trimble GPS, or equivalent, equipment operational experience;
- Familiarity and experience with grades and elevations, site work.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in the use of MSOffice, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or equivalent modelling and engineering-based drafting software is an asset;
- Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in safety and quality;
- Strong work ethic with the ability to lead a team or work individually;
- Natural ability to solve problems, communicate clearly and effectively;
- Must be physically fit, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and can regularly carry at least 20 kg of equipment;
- Valid Driver’s License with clean abstract.

- Effective time management, planning and communications skills;
- Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines;
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during project execution;
- Able to work independently as well as function as an effective team member;
- Attention to detail and ability to implement requisite QA/QC measures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Onsite work environment is outdoors and subject to all weather conditions.
